Henry Chung
Professor Henry Chung is Associate Dean of the College of Science and Engineering, Associate Director of the Centre of Power Electronics, professor of the Electronic Engineering of the City University of Hong Kong, and visiting professor of SUN Yat-Sen University,China.
His research interest practically spreads over the entire spectrum of power electronics, and specifically includes renewable energy conversion, high-voltage and high-power conversion technology, lighting technology, microcomputer control, fuzzy logic and evolutionary computation applications in power electronics. He has published 6 book chapters, more than 250 research articles, and holds 12 patents in his research area.
He has served the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in various capacities that include track Chair of the Power Electronics and Power System Technical Committee of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society, Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, and Research Letters in Electronics, Vice-Chair of the Technical Committee of the Power Electronics Specialists Conference 2008.
He received Notable Mention, Hong Kong Eco-Products Award 2006 and Best New Product 2005 Award, Australia Electrical and Electronic Manufactures' Association, for his invented centralized lighting management systems for e.Energy Lighting Limited. He received Consumer Product Design Award, Hong Kong Awards for Industry 2004, Technological Achievement Award, Hong Kong Awards for Industry 2001, and Grand Award in the 3rd Applied Research Excellence Award Competition for the new electronic ballast technology. In 1998, he was awarded Silver Prize in International Chinese Invention Expo for his invented induction heating technology.
